Who can join?

Casa Student Fund is open to students at Hanken School of Economics who are motivated to engage seriously with financial markets, investing and professional research processes.

Applicants come from different programmes and academic backgrounds. Prior experience is not a requirement. What matters is intellectual curiosity, commitment and the willingness to work within a structured, collaborative and professional environment. Casa Student Fund values diversity of perspectives and encourages applications from students with varied backgrounds and experiences.

Admission is competitive and based on motivation, analytical potential and alignment with the Fund’s values and expectations.

Recruitment.

Recruitment within Casa Student Fund is designed to balance continuity, professionalism and accessibility. The process is structured to ensure stable leadership while allowing new members to enter and develop over time.

Recruitment takes place in two main phases: leadership recruitment and member recruitment.

Leadership Recruitment.

Leadership recruitment takes place toward the end of the academic year. The incoming President is appointed according to the Fund’s governance procedures and is responsible for forming the Executive Committee for the following term.

Once appointed, members of the Executive Committee recruit heads for the Fund’s core functions, including investments, research, operations, events and corporate relations. These roles carry significant responsibility and therefore place strong emphasis on competence, reliability and demonstrated engagement within the Fund.

Leadership positions are filled based on suitability for the role, not seniority alone.

Member recruitment.

Member recruitment takes place primarily at the beginning of the academic year and is open to all eligible students at Hanken. Applications are assessed holistically, with focus on motivation, analytical thinking, learning capacity and commitment rather than formal credentials.

The main intake occurs in the autumn semester. A smaller supplementary intake may take place in the spring semester to address capacity needs or fill vacancies.

This two-stage recruitment model allows Casa Student Fund to remain professionally run while still providing entry points for new members seeking hands-on exposure to investing and financial analysis.
